It begins with an old acquaintance, Jackie Burlingame, visiting Wyatt in his cabin in Colorado. Jackie wants him to be a body guard/escort when he makes a delivery. Wyatt is cautious and initially turns Jackie down but is suspicious. He follows Jackie and uncovers an illegal gun deal. His intervention sets off a chain of events. Wyatt wants to help his longtime friends Matt and Kelly Jenkins keep Billy McCall out of trouble. Wyatt turns to his best friend Chick Easton to help him out. Together they try to find out who is behind the illegal guns and how high up the corruption goes. As usual the two find themselves up to their eyeballs in trouble with the law. Ripley I read but it will not be the last. The book is set in the 80s or 90s before cellular technology. Wyatt Storme is a Vietnam veteran and ex-football player. He realized one day he was becoming a person he didn’t like so he walked away from it. Wyatt is in Missouri bow hunting when he comes across a marijuana field growing on public land. He runs into an attack dog and a man begins shooting at him. He reports his find to the local sheriff, Bill Kennedy but Deputy Baxter interrupts them. Charles “Chick” Easton is also a Vietnam veteran with a checkered past. He can drink like a fish and fights like a combination of Jackie Chan, Claude Van Dam and Steven Segal. Chick is a bounty hunter looking for a chemist that skipped bail in Colorado. He needs to find him and get him back to collect his money. Book Review Memphis Ribs by Gerald Duff Book Review by Dawn Thomas 248 Pages Brash Books Mystery The book opens with an unconventional robbery of an ATM. Instead of breaking into the machine, the robbers decide it would be better to take the whole machine. The men don’t know the machines can withstand major damage. The main character J.W. Ragsdale is a sergeant with the Memphis police department. He is last in his family to live in the area but he lost the family cotton farm.  He has a girlfriend but isn’t sure she is the right one for him. There are mentions of his previous life with a wife and son but we don’t really know anything about them. Aires Saxon is murdered. He is the patriarch of the Saxon family and owner of the Delta Pride BBQ franchise. Was it a home invasion or was it staged to look like one? The family members’ lives are imploding. Franklin is only interested in his next fix and is in over his head with the Bones Family gang. His sister Cameron is only interested in her current duties as the Maid of Cotton.
