When she wakes she finds herself in a small room. She doesn’t remember anything since the snow was burying her on the mountain. She makes a break for it out a window and runs for her life. When caught she is broke back to the facility and meets Cato, the leader of the Chakra. He explains the work they do ecology. He gives her a choice: leave and go back to her lonely life or stay and find out about her role as a Gaia in helping repair the world. We learn about The Seven and their plans to repair the earth and bring about balance. This is a book for mature readers since several chapters with have intimate details of sexual abuse. The characters are distinct and very different. There is the understanding leader, the passionate lover, the hateful competitor, and platonic friend, and a sister.
