Ross is a quiet professor in Indiana. He has planned a three-week trek through the woods in Vermont. He meets Jay, a woman who is so rude. She treats everyone as if they are beneath her. Ross cannot stop helping her. They begin travelling together while trying to avoid a military event in the woods.

The book has fast pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. There is love and comedy in the story. It was a quick quirky read.
