This is a series of short stories. The first one is about a tailor measuring Loss for a new suit. The rest of the stories are about a woman named Kate, a science graduate student. The stories bounce around through her life and her relationships with men, her mother, her girlfriends, and her sister.

Since these were short stories, there was no pace. The stories jumped from one scenario to another and at times I was confused with what had happened to get to this point. The characters were shallow and undeveloped. I did not feel any connection to any of them. It was written in the third person point of view.
