Ellen Jones was arrested for vandalism in 1961 when she attacked the Gravesdown family vehicle. When she was filling out the prison paperwork, she changed her name to Peony Lane. She became known as a fortune teller. In 1965, she predicted Frances Gravedown’s murder. In current time, she meets Annie and tells her she must investigate the deaths of Edmund, Olivia, and Harry Gravesdown. Shortly after their meeting, Peony Lane is found dead inside Gravesdown Manor. The police come to investigate, and Annie is a prime suspect since it was inside the house, and she was the one to find her. Since Frances’ death, Annie has inherited the Gravesdown estate. She has access to all the files Frances collected on the people in the village. It seems Annie will have more deaths to investigate.

The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view. This is the second book in the Castle Knoll Files series. If you like a good British who dun it, you will enjoy reading this book.
