She enters her name into the goblet multiple times, but she is not selected. Her friend, Axel, is chosen instead and immediately gets thrown from the forest. Clara’s Grandmere reads magical cards to tell a person’s fate. Clara’s cards tell of an unexpected death, but she wants to change that.
The book has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view except for the prologue which is in the third person. If you like a twist on fairy tales, you will enjoy reading this book.
