An inappropriate relationship with a math teacher makes Addie’s new school year difficult. She is bullied by the popular girl and has lost her best friend, Hudson. Eve teaches math and her husband, Nate, teaches English. Their marriage has cooled and become routine. She is addicted to high end shoes, but her husband puts a stop to her buying. Nate befriends Addie which confuses her. She begins to have feelings for him and detests the way Eve treats him. Eve is seeing someone in secret to meet her needs. Everything quickly spirals out of control.
The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view from different perspectives. There are surprises and twists that made me question what was happening. If you like Alice Feeney and Ruth Ware, you may enjoy reading or listening to this book.
