Detective Sergeant Aector McAvoy sees patterns that others have overlooked. His wife is very pregnant and ready to give birth and they have a four-year-old son. Now is not the time for him to be involved in a complicated case but that seems like there are twists at every turn. He must hurry to solve the crimes so he can be with his wife and son. Should he bow to the pressure to just close the case or continue to find the correct outcome of the case.

All the victims have one thing in common, they were all the sole survivor of an event. It is a race against the clock for McAvoy to figure out the case before it is too late. The story has a fast pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. This is a great British police procedural. If you enjoy thrillers with a twist, you will like this book.
