Penn Cage is still reeling from recent events. His father is about to stand trial and his fiancé is gone. His mother moved to be closer to the prison. This is the third in the Natchez Burning trilogy. The characters are developed, and it was written in the first person point of view. The story takes place in 2005, in the months after Hurricane Katrina.
The narrator, Scott Brink, is a good narrator. He is the third narrator for the Penn Cage series. I am a little disappointed in the change of narrators because I believe it affects the continuity as the voice of Penn Cage. If you enjoy reading legal thrillers and courtroom proceedings, you may enjoy reading or listening to this book.
