The history of meditation beads includes information from Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim religions along with regions in Africa. In chapter 2, the author does an excellent job explaining the many meanings of the number of beads and the importance of the number 108. She also discusses the guru bead and the tassel.
In chapter 3, Shannon provides many examples for intention, the proper way to hold and/or the beads, and mantras to sing while using the beads. She also includes a section on incorporating the moon cycle and essential oils with using the beads. In chapter 4, Ms. Yrizarry provides tips on buys beads and the process of stringing the beads with intention. She also goes into detail about colors and their meanings along with different types of woods.
I have a set of mala beads with 108 beads on it. I have wanted to use them but always felt intimidated with them. I have had rosary beads and prayer beads, but this was new territory for me. This was the book I was looking for and did not know it.
