The island of Saoirse is just off the coast of Washington state. Families have spent generations on the island. When there is a fire at the Salt apple orchard and Lily Morgan is found dead, August Salt is suspected. Emery Blackwood was Lily’s best friend and in a relationship with August. Fourteen years later, after the death of his mother, August returns to Saoirse with her ashes. His arrival on the island stirs up old feelings and evil that had been lying just under the surface.

This book has a steady pace, and the characters are somewhat developed. It is written in third person point of view with multiple narrators. The story jumps back in forth from the past to the present showing the reader how the events led to Lily’s death. If you enjoy mysteries with a hint of magic, you will like this one.
