John Sinclair and Cordelia Stapleton are invited to have dinner with Charles Bonnard at his villa in Capri. When they arrive, they meet his other dinner guest, Princess Victoria of Norway. Contessa Brindey helped Victoria sneak out of the hotel to be with Charles. She also arranges with the assassin, the Cyclops, to steal Victoria’s sapphire necklace. Before the man can get the necklace, Victoria’s little brother, Karl, takes it and sells it so he and Lucas, Brindey’s son can go on an adventure. Sinclair is believed to be Victoria’s lover and when the necklace is believed to be stolen, he is the obvious suspect.
The book has a fast pace, the characters developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. The story crosses Europe and the United Kingdom all while earthquakes are erupting. As the earthquakes build pressure, the adventure continues with global chases. If you like mysteries and intrigue, you may enjoy this book.
