Lana Elkins worked for the National Security Agency as a cyber spy. Now she owns her own company, Cyber Force. The day starts with the national power grid going down. The country is now vulnerable. A train derailment is the first incident. Lana’s daughter, Emma, is a victim of ammonia poisoning. Since Lana needs to work, she asks Denise, a teenager she helped earlier to stay with Emma.
Ruce is with the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) trying to save the environment. With the attacks happening and no one to blame, it is assumed that anyone of middle eastern background is guilty. He is taken by the US government and tortured. Either he is guilty and will be eliminated or he is innocent and will be put to work as a spy. Candice was his handler.
The US is not in control of the nuclear reactor stations or submarines. Planes are falling from the sky and viruses are being released in large cities. Can Lana and Ruce save the country, and if so, will there be anything left?
The story is fast paced, the characters are well developed, and it is written in third person point of view. This book was too close to reality. If you like disaster themed stories, like Titanic, you will enjoy reading this book.
