Since 17-year-old warrior-elect Rowan has not taken the oath, she is not assigned to go. That goes against everything she has trained for.
The story has a fast pace, developed characters, and is written in the first-person point of view from multiple perspectives. If you like stories about mythical places, you may enjoy this book.
