Opaline makes talismans for women who have lost loved ones, especially in war. She can communicate with the dead through stones. In this way, she can pass a message from the deceased. She meets Mrs. Alouette and is contracted to make a talisman for her son Jean-Luc. After creating the talisman, Opaline begins receiving messages from Jean-Luc. She starts wearing the necklace and he is with her all the time and they begin having an astral relationship. When Mrs. Alouette requests the talisman, Opaline does not want to give it up and lose her relationship with Jean-Luc. She is conflicted and does not know what to do.

The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view. Opaline is a descendant from Sandrine, the Witch of Painted Sorrows, which was the first book in this series.
