Mildred “Millie” Dresselhaus worked as child labor in a zipper factory. She received a Fulbright scholarship then attended Harvard Annex. She changed from math to physics. She married Frederick before meeting Gene Dresselhaus. She taught classes at Cornell with Gene. They had four children. She was one of the first women on staff at MIT and the first to win a science award.
The author created a wonderful book with her research. She made Millie come alive within the pages of the book. I knew the name Millie Dresselhaus but now I feel like I know the woman. If you are interested in learning more about pioneering women of science, this is a great book.
