Kieron Ramsey was walking home after drinking and watching a game. He is approached by a man who attacks him and leaves him for dead. DI Tom Calladine and his team are assigned to the case. While investigating, a call comes in for a toddler being poisoned at a grocery store. This is the same store where Kieron Ramsey worked. They found out a coworker, Gina Haigh, has run off. Now there is a call from a neighbor of Gina’s Aunt Moira. The neighbor believes Moira was taken in a van. Tom and his team have a dead man and two missing women to find.
The book has a fast pace, the characters are somewhat developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. This is the tenth book in the series. I had not read the others in the series but was able to follow along and did not feel I missed much in the backstory. If you like British police procedurals and mysteries, you may enjoy this book.
