The book begins with her childhood. She grew up in a very conservative household in New Jersey. When she was eight years old, her father gave her an ATV. She was going to fast and turned it over. Instead of letting go, she held on and the machine was on top of her. She called her father to help her, but he refused. He told her she needed to figure it out herself.

As a teen, her family moved to Virginia and where she attended college. During her summer breaks, she held internships in Congress. After graduation, she began working in the White House as a legislative liaison. She was an insider and had first-hand knowledge of the events leading up to January 6, 2021. She researched and found Bob Woodward’s book, “All the President’s Men.” This lead her to Alex Butterfield, the deputy assistant to Richard Nixon.

Alex and Cassidy had similar roles in history. When the country was in peril, they stood up for the people against their bosses and the president. The book had a slow start with her background, but it was necessary to show how she became the woman she is today.
