Jay’s life is over but that does not mean he is gone. While driving in the mountains to be with his wife Maya and young son Calder, Jay falls asleep and crashes his car. He is greeted by his dead father who assists him through the next phase. Maya and Calder are grief stricken and have a hard time coping without Jay in their lives.

The book has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in first person point of view from different perspectives. The author’s first book is nonfiction and describes life after losing her husband. She decided to share her grief by writing about what life could be like on the other side. I liked all the characters in the book. They all acted as you would expect grieving people would act. For example, Calder becomes defiant and reckless. Maya is despondent and joins a widow’s circle to share her story. If you have dealt with anyone’s passing, you will find value in reading this book.
