Amelia won a weekend trip to a Scottish getaway. Her husband Adam, a screen writer, is less than thrilled about it. It is February in the Highlands, and a storm is brewing. The place they are staying is a chapel converted into a cottage. There is a mysterious housekeeper who brings them food but is never seen. The neighboring village is deserted except for the general store/post office. The couple are truly on their own. When their old dog, Bob, goes missing, they go out searching but did not bring clothes for this time of adventure. Wet and cold they must retreat to the shelter of the cottage.

The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in first person point of view and with anniversary love letters. This is one of those books that keeps you wondering what is happening through the whole story. I was confused in a good way because I did not see it coming. If you love mysteries, you will enjoy reading this book.
