Ellie is a disabled vet living in China. She is separated from her husband Trey, a born-again Christian living with Lily. After visiting a friend, she sees something, or someone, she probably should not have seen. Ellie Travels all over China because of unusual messages she receives in a game. She believes she is helping Lao Zhang, but since she does not know the real identities of the players, she really has no idea. She is drugged multiple times and kidnapped but still she continues to pay the game and trust everyone.

The book has a steady to slow pace, the characters are not very developed, and it is written in the first-person point. I kept asking myself why Ellie was continuing the quest. I did not find the story believable.
