If I knew I was going to die, I wouldn’t have packed so much” is the first line of the book. I was immediately hooked. Jasper Wills travelled to Marrakech when the unthinkable happened. He was taken. The beginning of the book is written in the first-person point of view as journal entries. He wrote about past memories and the terror he was experiencing. He explained the actions that led him to go to Marrakech.

Six months earlier, their 13-year-old daughter was kidnapped. They received several ransom letters but when the money was left at the drop location, no one came to collect it. Their relationship suffers and Jasper decides he needs to get back to writing and plans the trip to Marrakech.

Katie Edwards, a young journalist looking for a big story just happens to be a friend of Jennifer. Being close to the family gave her access to facts that were not released. They share their story with her to help bring their daughter home. She uses her knowledge and connection to the family to better her career. To find more information on Jasper’s story, she travels to Marrakech. She digs deep looking for anything that is relevant to Jasper. She will do anything to get a big story.

I loved this book. I went through so many emotions reading this story. The characters are complex and the writing is flawless. If you like thrillers with twists, you will enjoy this book. Clear your schedule because you will not want to stop reading.
