Des is asked to assist the FBI and State Department to rescue scientists in a research base on Newfoundland. Before he leaves, he is offered a bribe from thugs with Skyhook Technologies on their clothing. The miners at the research base have left because of hazardous working conditions. There are also Russians between the townspeople and the scientists. Des will need more than his gatekeeper skills to get through this adventure.
The book has a fast pace, the characters are well developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. Des is my favorite action hero. He is flawed but loveable. If you like action adventures with a bit of snow, you may enjoy reading this book.
