The Irish Rising was to take place Easter Sunday, April 1916, but England’s engagement in the war with Germany delayed its start. Dublin leaders decided to go ahead on Easter Monday, April 24, 1916. The women were able to join the Irish Citizen Army (ICA). Over two hundred and fifty women participated. I was unaware of this uprising and how women were involved.
