Samantha Lee is a revitalization planner. When Robbie, a coworker, develops appendicitis and needs emergency surgery, Samantha heads to her childhood home of Rock Island, Florida. Austin Marks runs the local ferry boat. His father is disappointed with him since he wanted Austin to be the high school football coach. Rock Island is the last place Samantha wants to be. She left seven years ago and never looked back. Her father died when she was younger and her mother did not accept his death. She became an addict and Samantha was forced to bring her home on numerous occasions. Now she is back and is hiding from her mother. Her goal is to finish her work within a couple of weeks and get out before being noticed. Best laid plans….

The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view from multiple perspectives. The two narrators do an excellent job giving a voice to each character.
