The story is set in 580 B.C.E. where the second book, The Forgotten Kingdom, ended. We again encounter the twins Queen Languoreth and her brother Wisdom Keeper Lailoken along with Languoreth’s daughters Angharad and Gladys. Christianity is coming to the kingdom, but Languoreth tries to make sure the old ways continue. Gladys, the elder daughter, is now Queen of another kingdom but wishes she could be with her mother. Angharad has been training to be a Wisdom Keeper and has been traveling the different kingdoms to increase her knowledge.
The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written from different perspectives. If you like medieval stories, this is a good series to read.
