Tamika did not like rules and wanted to be free. She rebelled against her parents, skipped school, and hung out with people her parents did not know about. She was forced to grow up faster than she should have. She trusted the wrong people and made bad decisions. Things changed when she met Jason and got pregnant. Together they had a son, Tarique. Tamika became a leader in the black and brown communities for civil rights. She believed young men deserved a safe world and stood against gun violence. She was a co-founder of the Women’s March on Washington.
This is a well written story of a strong Black woman changing the world. If you like books about current events, you may enjoy reading this.
