Tom’s wife, Honor, and their daughter Chloe are killed in a terrorist attack. When he returns home, he must deal with Jess, their surrogate. She found out she was pregnant just after the deaths. The story then jumps four years, and we meet his son Henry. Tom gets an envelope that was misdirected. It was supposed to be sent to the egg donor but sent to him by mistake. This makes him curious about the donor, and he goes in search of her. Grace is a widow. She owns a wine shop and is studying to be a grand master sommelier. She hosts the Sunday Blues, an informal group of widows. Tom shows up one day and changes everything.
The book has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the first-person point of view from Honor’s perspective. If you like general fiction, you may enjoy reading this book.
