The book is set in Blanco, Texas. Ellie owns the farm since her husband’s death. Lane Taylor along with his wife, Sue, and young daughter, Laurie, live and work on the farm. Angel Ware is an escaped prisoner. He and two other prisoners get away from their guards and escape. He wants to find his sister, Sue to get revenge. Lane’s brother, Brady Taylor, is a Texas Ranger. He is on the trail of the prisoners. While the two other prisoners distract the farm workers, Angel takes Laurie. Ellie is fond of the child and is not afraid to go after the men who took her.

The book has a fast pace, the characters are well developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. Each of the characters has a strong show of personality whether for good or bad. If you like historical fiction or Texas themed books, you may enjoy this book.
