Nils Vik has been a ferryman since he was 15. He has seen all different aspects of life. He was a participant in births when help was needed. He also waited with the dead while waiting for officials. This book is his final journey as he remembers all that travelled in his boat and in his life.
The book had a steady pace, the characters were developed and it was written in the third person point of view. The author did a great job of showing us all the different characters and personalities Nils met while ferrying his boat through the fjord. This is a nice reflection on a life well lived.
