Robyn Crowe is grieving from the loss of her partner Simon. She goes to her sister’s cottage, the Malan Cottage, for a peaceful environment. What she finds is the opposite. The house is being renovated. She goes to town and meets Hedra, the owner of the tea shop. She learns the word “malan” means devil in Cornish. During the Tudor period, two sisters were accused of witchcraft and killed. The cottage belonged to them and is believed to be cursed. First Robyn experiences a foul smell, then an attack by a crow. She needs the expertise of the town’s wise woman to fight the darkness of the cottage.
The story has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. If you like mysterious supernatural type stories, you may enjoy reading this book.
